1. What Should We Bring?
Items We Supply:
For your convenience we provide dishes and cutlery, pots and pans, cooking
utensils, microwave, appliances such as a fridge, freezer, and stove,
generator, bathroom with shower, toilet and sink, bbq,
set of four patio chairs on top deck, 10 plastic beach chairs, limited toilet
paper, broom, mop and pail, operator's manual, fire extinguishers, maps,
ropes, adult life jackets, SIRIUS Satellite Radio, and VHF Radio

2. What Do I Need to Pay For, Other Than My Charter Fee?
You are required to pay;
Refundable Security Deposit, see #4 below for details
Insurance Deductible - see #5 below for details
Your Fuel - Fuel charges for the houseboat are similar to a rental car. When
you board your houseboat at the Marina
you will have a full tank of fuel. When you return we refuel the houseboat
and you will only be charged for the fuel you have used. The average Fuel
Usage is $30/day.
Extra People (including children) - see #8 below for details
3. What activities are there at or near Lake Koocanusa?
There are a number of interesting things to see and do in the East Kootenays. Within an
hours drive of the lake there are numerous golf courses, local attractions
including a fully operational heritage town, a world class railway museum,
and a fish hatchery. You can also enjoy motorbiking,
atv-ing, trail riding, or cycling.
At the lake you can enjoy fishing, canoeing, water sports, bird watching,
hiking, swimming, and good old relaxation.
We offer kayak
rentals for your pleasure, they are available on a per
day or per charter rental basis.
4. How does the Security Deposit work?
At the time of your arrival to the Marina
you will be required to provide a $1000 security deposit. This is payable on
arrival by cash or credit card. This deposit is refundable less any charges
which can include lost or damaged items, excessively unclean boats or any
damage resulting from negligent operation of, or activity on the houseboat.
5. How does the Insurance work?
At the time of your arrival to the Marina
you will be required to provide a $2500 insurance deposit, or a $1000 deposit
plus $25 per day, plus GST. This is payable on arrival by cash or credit
card. The $2500 or $1000 deposit is fully refundable if there is no insurance
claim. The $25 per day is non-refundable.
The insurance covers fire, and any unusual risks or damages. It does NOT
cover prop damage or any damage to the underside of the houseboat below the
water line, lost inventory items, or damage caused by the charterer’s
own negligence.
6. Can I bring my Pet?
Pets are welcome on an Approval basis at the time of booking. All pets are
subject to a $75 surcharge.
7. When Can I Board My Houseboat?
Regular Board ~ you may board your houseboat at 9 am on the date of
departure. Return times are 2 pm. A $100/hr fee is charged for late returns.
Early/Preboard ~ Preboarding
is available between 6pm and 8 pm, only on the day prior to departure for a
$100 charge.
Late Boarding ~ Late arrivals on prior arrangement with Daydreamer
Houseboat Vacations only.
8. Can I have more than 10 people on the Houseboat?
There is the availability to have up to a maximum of 12 people on any of our
Houseboats, provided two of the 12 people are children under the age of 6.
For each person over the limit of 10 you will be required to pay an
additional $100/each. This is a non-refundable cost.
